Diabetic (almost) Reversal!

Diabetic (almost) Reversal!

On August 1st 2014 I spent 3 days in the hospital, I was diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic and was now insulin dependant. I took 20 units of slow acting insulin each night and 5-10 units of fast acting insulin before each meal. I take my blood sugar 3-7 times every day.

In January 2015 I stopped taking the fast acting insulin before meals. After taking JuicePlus+ for 2 months.

This encouraged me greatly!

In the middle of February 2015 I reduced my long lasting insulin to 10 units at night. After we started juicing with the Super Juice Me app.

Before the end of February 2015 I stopped taking all insulin. I'm still taking the Metforim pill that helps my body process my natural insulin.

March 1st 2015...the doctor's face almost fell off when he saw my regular 3 month test results! The doctor said "You're supposed to be Diabetic right?". My 12 hour fasting blood sugar level was 5.4...normal non-diabetic fasting blood sugar is 4-7.

He told me not to take any more insulin!

Now I continue to juice 1-2 times each day, take my JuicePlus+, and still working hard to reduce my intake of bad foods.

I did this without adding regular exercise to my routine but I'm sure results would have been better with exercise. Although I struggle with this part of my life.

Our bodies need two things to heal themselves!

ONE: Reduce the intake of deadly chemicals and processed sugar, fat, & salt.

TWO: Intake of nutrients needed to heal itself.

Juicing can be a major life change that not all people can do. I know we have a hard time juicing exclusively more and 3-5 days as we crave for hard foods. JuicePlus+ can be an easy step in starting to get healthy.

Most juicing advice starts off with going all out with juicing to help clean and detox the body. This process starts with the low of the detox and can be very hard on you mentally for 2-4 days and a lot of people can't make it. It's a great feeling though when you start sleeping better and getting energy on the 5-7 day.

I think people can do this detox at a slow pace just fine without the days of headaches and hunger pains.

Start by taking JuicePlus+ make it part of you life and the chewables are like candy you whole family will love.

Then reduce the processed sugar, fat, and salt from your food. I'm not saying cold turkey but more like once a week not 5 times a week.

Add fresh fruit and veggies to your families diet. Fresh can be more expensive but the good nutrients of an apple far out ways any natural sugar in the apple.

Add a fresh green based juice a few times per week. Try:
1 Gala Apple,
handful of kale and/or spinach,
1/4 cucumber,
1-2 stalks of celery,
half a lime,
1-3cm slice of ginger, and
some nutmeg, cinnamon, & turmeric to taste.

After a few weeks try having a slightly different juice for breakfast each morning.

Then try to add a few walks each week...I'm stuck on this step! lol

Have a great day,
Ian

Diabetic

On August 1st 2014 I was admitted to the hospital for a long weekend...I was now full on Diabetic.

The month before I got a very bad case of bronchitis. Despite the meds given to me the coughing never really went away. Each day I felt more and more tired unable to wake up in the mornings and completely lacking energy. I also began to pee a lot and was getting very thirsty. The week before by hospital visit my taste buds seemed to die and only sweet things tasted any good to me.

My wife and I planned a camping trip to Jasper for the weekend before my hospital visit. I was so drained and lacking energy that my wife packed all the supplies herself as she had the day off and picked me off from work. I plan was for me to pack the truck the night before but I was way too tired.

My wife is amazing! Unfortunately, this trip was a bust. On our first night camping I had to get up to pee about 6 times and drank about 3 cans of pop. The next day we had pre paid tickets to go up the Whistler Mountain Sky Tram. I love doing this even more now that after my Dad passed away we spread his ashes up there. I was extremely tired and could not walk around much. The second night we had to get a cabin as I was still peeing too much and couldn't handle sleeping on the ground again.

I was so upset at one point because I couldn't hold my pee so we stopped on the side of a parking lot so I could go. I stumbled into the trees trying to undo my jeans. I was so tired that I peed all over my pants and started to cry when I got back to the truck. On our way home the next day I threw up the big breakfast and 5 ice teas I had drank on the side of the highway. Just one more thing added to make this the worst trip we have been on.

Through all this my wife still tried to make the best of things. I love her so much.

In hind sight the believe I was starting to feel tired long before the bronchitis as I was not that active that summer and not doing a lot of things outside of the house in the yard. The doctors told me that the bronchitis was the trigger for my diabetes.

I have had to make a lot of changes in my life from August till now.

Now I hope I have had a big enough scare to make a proper change in my life.

I have been on diabetic meds for the last 3 and a half months and I feel I have adapted to the new lifestyle but I want to really make a change. We are looking at making a lifestyle change NOT start a new diet.

Low carb, high protein, healthy fats, whole foods. It may come out being some sort of Atkins meets Paleo meets Juicing all brought together with a whole food based supplement called JuicePlus+.

Have a great day!
